What's it about?:
The Speech & Debate Team is an academic organization that requires the same dedication and self-discipline as the athletes in an athletic program. Students participate in extemporaneous speaking, original oratory, interpretation (duo, humorous, and dramatic). Along with individual debate, congressional debate, and public forum team debate. Students who participate in Speech & Debate learn to overcome and calm speaking anxieties, receive valuable training for college/future careers, increase their public communication skills, develop improved study habits/research skills, advance critical thinking and reasoning skills among so much more!

Meetings:
  • Speech & Debate meetings occur every Friday (unless told otherwise) promptly after school in room A1125
  • Meetings last until 4:00 at the latest

Fundraiser:
We are now hosting a new fundraiser for each sport home game there is!
--Come by and support the Speech & Debate Team by paying $1.00 (prices will vary depending on content) to get your face painted!
--Have the ability to show your school spirit and jump in on this awesome fundraiser!


Lettering:

The CHS Speech & Debate Team is now eligible for lettering!
The requirements to letter in Speech & Debate follow-
  1. Attend at least 65% of the meetings
  2. Obtain 150 NSDA points
  3. Be an active member for 2 years
  4. Maintain 2.5 GPA
  5. Display good behavior and academic standing
